I've been always a guy who prefers coolers, but of late the weather in Pune has started becoming humid... coolers don't work in humid weather 😞

A note about effectively using desert coolers. Since they rely on evaporation, it's ideal if they're installed on a window such that the slats are outside the walls of your room. This helps the evaporating water vapour to remain outside the room and not cause an excessive increase in humidity inside the room, while still blowing cool air into it. If you can't install them in a window, place them close to an opening (door or a window), won't be as effective but still way better than using a cooler in a closed hot room. Using it that way will most make it worse, except when you sit directly in front of it. Of course, they don't work well in humid weather, hence the name!

Several other techniques can be used: 1. White paint on external walls and the terrace. 2. Opening up the skylights to let out the hot air. 3. Table fan directly blowing into your face. 4. Stripping down to bare minimum clothing appropriate for the situation. 5. Use chairs with woven / mesh backs and seats instead of foam or leather. 6. Floors are usually much cooler than beds/sofas. If it's not, wash/mop the floor with water and use it for resting/chilling. 7. Move to Bangalore 😁

Nowadays even bangalore is getting hotter😓

Speaking from Gurgaon here (>40 C). I've kept a temporary cooler outside my room that blows air directly at my desk/chair, with a door besides it to let the air pass up. In my experience, closing the room and letting the cooler air stay in causes humidity buildup.

Another thing I do is once I've cleaned up my room, setup my desk and everything, the last thing I do before starting work is take a good, cold shower. Once you shower, just stay as relaxed as you can (don't do any physical tasks, don't rush, etc) and keep your heart rate nice and low. Then just start with the work. After a few hours you'll notice you aren't feeling as hot as you used to.

It was getting a bit much, so I made it rain yesterday. 😅
