Has anyone performed a video assessment for pre employment (and prior to any interview scheduling)? The video recording is supposed to be proof that I am working and completing the assessments myself. There is a quick 20 min UCAT ( for cognitive assessment) which is timed and then a personality assessment which is untimed. The entire exercise is supposed to be completed within 5 business days. The request has come via an external recruiter (Kelly services ) who seems to be recruiting for a company called DealerSocket. The video software to be used is ClickMeeting and this is the second communication both of which have been over email.

If you search for CCAT , you can find many study materials for it . Personality test was real pita but you just need to select the best answer that makes you a best team player and that what's they are checking .

I’m in a dilemma.  I was in Bangalore last month and have been having discussions about work and career in a remote or onsite job setup with my friends who are already working there and folks from this community as well. This is going to be an important decision for me at my current stage of career and life particularly because my 1 year remote work setup has been really satisfying so far. Coincidentally, the agreement with my current remote employer will also come to an end by 15th Jan. I’m going back to project based work with him.  When I was  there in Bangalore, I was leaning towards the on-location job, because -  1. I’ll get to engage  in person with people who are into design on a regular basis and have a 1-to-1 conversations through events, meetups and talk sessions. It was really a good experience to attend a few sessions during my Bangalore visit.  2. I’ll get to explore work culture and life in Bangalore ( a metro city per se), like every other young blood who wants to go out and try things before the life grips him into its regular chorus. I’m considering Bangalore city particularly because of it being a design and software hub, favourable weather conditions and fairly organised infrastructure.  3. Will experience team collaborations in proper corporate setup which has its own learnings involved  4. Although, I don’t plan it to be a long stint at an onsite job, but I feel that this could work as good launchpad for a rewarding remote job after a year or two. Remote work is my final long term plan.  But, when I’m back from Bangalore in my remote setup, I’m leaning towards the remote-work, because -  1. I feel at peace when I’m here and have got used to being productive at my remote setup. Not so easy to venture out of this comfort zone now 2. I can bring the work life balance in practice on my own way 3. I can look after my family and stay around people who share similar culture and lifestyle. I have spent around 12 years staying away from my family  during my education and early work years. Frequent family visits doesn’t compensate the experience one gets by living it with them each day without a vacation ending timer 4. I can involve in my side hustle and be productive at them as well - like farming, local cultural events and other hobbies. Because work-life balance to me doesn’t only mean the time spent on and off the computer So,  what would be an ideal path to take at this situation. Is it the time to get your hands dirty out there in the playground? Can the benefits of remote setup listed above wait? In both the cases, I’ll be starting my job hunt campaign. I need to decide the course of action. Please guide me in taking my decisions. _*Being part of this community has been among the biggest accomplishments for me in 2019. I wish you all a very happy 2020.*_🙏🏼

If there’s only one thing (interview/podcast) you’ll listen from 2019, make sure it’s this one:

Naval Ravikant and Yuval Noah Harrari are the only two though leaders I’m really following since 2018. Everything else seems like noise compared to these two.

I have a question for the RI family regarding scheduling for meetings etc. In the last few months, I was experimenting with x.ai and calendly for scheduling. It works really well but I noticed that some people find it "rude"/"less personal" when I send them a scheduling link. I just wanted to share this and ask for feedback? What do you think about these tools. How do you schedule? 🙂

I’ve been listening to podcasts since past two weeks and getting a hang of it. I like finding and listening to specific episodes instead of following a single cast in its entirety. What are your favourite episodes? Would love to get more recommendations. Here are a few that I’ve lined up:
