πŸ“š Book club thoughts - Accountability βœ… We have 12 books. We can read 1 every month which will be pre-decided and posted on #book-club channel. I can come up with weekly goals (based on book pages) so that we are on track to finish the book in 30 days. - Learning πŸ’¬
sharing a list of Top learnings in a note/blog will work well, as it's shared knowledge etc, but also depends on what one consumes from the book etc
Exactly my thoughts as well !! We can do this in the slack channel for now and later on people can publish it in their personal blogs. - Motivation πŸ’ͺ This a great excuse to encourage one to make reading a daily habit. All the books are geared towards freelancers and remote workers, so I am sure they will transform us in a positive way. And if you have already read some of the books, I feel there is value in rereading as well. So what do you say ? Are you in ?? πŸ€“

πŸ’¬ I am curious whether you use a VPN ? For remote workers, it might be a big deal especially when we work from public networks from cafes, coworking spaces etc

    # Job board I have been a remote developer for the last 3 years and I have always found it difficult to find quality listings for programmers based in India. Some of the issues are - Hunt different places (You have to browse different job boards to find quality listings. I want to reduce that effort) - Timezone bound (Filter these listings which mention in their description that they are looking for devs operating out of US (or Europe)) - Trust Deficit (If you had a bad experience with a company, then as an individual you can report it, which can then be useful for other peope in the community)

A job board that can filter job posts based on location would be great. I like the careers page of Britecore https://engineering-application.britecore.com/. The user can select the country and only relevant job posts are shown.

πŸ’‘ Hey fellow members, the idea for the job board is to promote the participation of the community in curating job opportunities which are relevant to us. If it comes down to a single person, then it might be very difficult to keep the job board updated 😐.
For eg. if you are a rails developer, but you come across a JS opportunity, may be it is wise to share with the community rather than lose that information. Or if an opportunity is available in your network but you don't have the time or the skills for it.
So I am suggesting using google forms and sheets to crowdsource this data. And I can review the listings once a week to make sure they are quality ones. What do you think ?? Is this doable/reasonable. πŸ€” πŸ“Œ Form to submit remote/freelance leads that you come across and feel are useful πŸ‘‰ https://goo.gl/forms/zNxv5arGHoEIrp2j1 πŸ“‚ Form results will be readable/commentable (for anyone/everyone) πŸ‘‰ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dzeKCaJpzEejoE-4DIf2NCAEypnCrDK4OFS0G8T7pDs/edit?usp=sharing Bouquets or brickbats are welcome πŸ˜„

Looks great. The major issue with other job boards is: Not specifying clearly whether the company is hiring remotely worldwide or in a specific timezone. Maybe making it mandatory to add location worldwide or specific timezone range will help.
