how much of this could just be managed by caching a checksum and mtime for all those files and just needing to stat and send 304?

@bastelfreak did you say that you already have implemented the nginx static cache?

if so, we could fairly easily benchmark your solution and my idea in some different scenarios

Although, OpenTracing helps the most for digging into outliers. For overall service operation, these metrics should give an idea of how much time is going into File Serving vs. other operations: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetserver/pull/1689

The spike I put together for deflecting pluginsync to Java is here: https://github.com/Sharpie/puppetserver-clj-file-server It was Puppet 5 vintage though. AOT compilation and other compatibility breaks have happened since then.

Not sure the best place to ask this. While exploring Windows Server 2022 it looks like Microsoft has slightly tweaked how they handle OSCP in IIS. It almost looks like they've enabled it by default instead of having it need to be enabled. While trying to disable it on the site level I noticed there isn't a way to do this in the puppetlabs-iis module, and due to how bindings are done if we try to do this outside of the module we can't manage sites as the bindings will conflict and be overridden. I found this issue added https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-iis/issues/344 and was wondering how to tell if it was being considered.

If you have any questions/suggestions for anything related to the console, any of the console services (RBAC, Classifier, Activity Service) or the Orchestrator, ask away.

Any chance we can get strike throughs on the "unsigned certificates" page. If you have a lot of certs to reject it can get confusing making sure you are accepting or rejecting on the correct line. Example from other console pages
