Is there a directive to specify permissions?

hey all. if anyone from the React Native 'learning apollo' is here, I'm getting 3 successive renders after creating a pokemon, which means first and second render doesn't include the data for the pokedex main screen. any idea why?

i think query mutation, query init, are the first two actions, and then comes the good action - query result that has a trainer on the data root.

huh so I am not sure how the router lib I comes into play here

might be that, yea. it would have to be that render happens when loading is false, and then we don't have any trainer on the data prop.

oh yea that is always the case with Apollo though, that loading is true at first

yup, because when coming back from the 'add pokemon' screen, render triggered, load was false, and there wasn't any trainer on the data prop (or any meaningful data for that matter)

I'm not too familiar with RN, I believe the routing lib I used is also not the most commonly used one, right?

no it's the most common actually. just that now the community starts to lean to an 'officially supported one', the one that exponent started off

this kind of glitches are common with the apollo client?

anyway if you'd like to give a hand with the repo I'd be super happy to review and discuss code together with :slightly_smiling_face: The React app already got some nice collaborators but RN vanilla is a bit underrepresented at the moment haha

Sure. but i'll need to know what's an apollo glitch and what's not though - i'll see if i have some spare time and if i do i'll try pushing a PR

So at this moment this feels like an Apollo bug indeed - and back to your previous question, Apollo changes rapidly these days and that introduces subtle problems from time to time, but a given version feels pretty solid. Also the release of version 1 will be another improvement there I bet :slightly_smiling_face:

I see. so is this a decision maker in terms of going with relay or apollo in your opinion? at least for my own infrastructure, i think i'm convinced i want to invest in graphql, finally. however in terms of clients (apollo/relay) i'm still split

No, as I said once you are familiar with a given version that's pretty solid, and it'll further improve. Yup, I did, but got the feeling apollo is nicer for an existing Redux infra. Obviously I'll have to do that. Thanks :thumbsup:

second question - in the docs here there's a "Custom rule" button, but I can't seem to find it in the console. is this an upcoming feature?

yeah the current graphql getting started tutorial uses the IDL

graphql-up is great for prototyping / start learning graphql. Is there any plan for doing updates aswell? Either just changing the schema file or doing further editing using the console.graphcool app?

Hi <@U4DJV4HD1> We will probably make it possible to clone a graphql-up project to your Graphcool account. No timeframe for this yet. In addition we will be adding the schema import feature to Graphcool, so if you are working with a long term project, there should be no reason to use graphql-up. Keep an eye out for this over the coming weeks :slightly_smiling_face:

Coming from a more traditional local relational world I might take some time to get to grips with the options.
