The cloud ate my prompts lolsob I was writing a message in the prompt input box • it was showing "ready" • a "timeout" toast flew by • then it suddenly wiped the prompt input box • and it's reconnecting ◦ it succeeded reconnect fast (seconds) • my half a novel prompt is gone 🫣 (MacBook, Dia browser) I think maybe we could save these drafts

oof yeah that's brutal losing a long prompt to a timeout is rough 😅 the draft-saving idea makes total sense and even just persisting the input to localstorage on every keystroke would fix this. worth filing as an issue if it isn't already!

Final summary: - I checked whether this prompt-loss bug already had an issue. - I found an existing matching issue: #13280 — “Chat messages can be lost when WebSocket is disconnected or during page refresh”. - Instead of opening a duplicate, I added your exact repro case to that issue, including: - input showed “ready” - a “timeout” toast briefly appeared - the draft prompt was wiped - the app reconnected quickly afterward - environment: MacBook, Dia browser - suggestion to persist drafts while typing (e.g. localStorage/sessionStorage) Comment link: https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/issues/13280#issuecomment-4021541888 Notes: - No repository code changes were made. - Therefore, there was no git diff, commit, or push to perform.

This just happened to me with a very long prompt too, very annoying. cc @ancient-car-4311 we might want to try to get this in the list of bugs for a squasher to fix… Together with https://openhands-ai.slack.com/archives/C06QT0AGY4W/p1772982920468829 it has been a bit frustrating to use the cloud recently.
