# general
g
I'm having an issue where I enabled services-http feature but when I try to create an Operator from a url, it says scheme not registered. Any clue on what's wrong?
x
Which version are you using?
g
OpenDAL 0.55.0
x
Got it. this feature is incomplete in 0.55.0 version
This will be fixed in our next coming release
g
aha! Okay.
x
As a workaround, you can call:
DEFAULT_OPERATOR_REGISTRY.register::<crate::services::Http>("https")
This can be treated as an
init
function.
g
any release timeframe for the new version?
x
In next or next two weeks.
g
cool
x
We are currently doing some cleanup
btw, would you like to share a bit about your projects? I'm always happy to learn about our users.
g
Sure. I'm fetching images from various sources (mainly s3) to process their contents with AI models. Unluckily, one of my sources is an Oracle Cloud Object Storage, which despite being declared as s3-compatible, doesn't seem to work with OpenDAL (I'm pretty sure aws-sdk-s3 crate works with it, but right now I don't have time to create a OpenDAL service), so I thought of pulling data from the web endpoint via "http" scheme.
x
Weird. Could you share the error message from OCI? I know of some opendal users on OCI and it should work
g
yup
let me modify config so I point back to the OCI source
Object storage error: PermissionDenied (permanent) at read, context: { uri: https://.compat.objectstorage.eu-frankfurt-1.oci.customer-oci.com//813acd3beb667641aa616dcd05fb6944.jpg, response: Parts { status: 403, version: HTTP/1.1, headers: {"x-amz-request-id": "fra-1:d7epRCSrPgZdVbCoZLXAsfMydLPYfj_ZUscvKna5mMkQbRVHMw3To_jWFBiuryPB", "content-type": "application/xml; charset=utf-8", "content-length": "253", "date": "Wed, 24 Dec 2025 13:31:34 GMT", "opc-request-id": "fra-1:d7epRCSrPgZdVbCoZLXAsfMydLPYfj_ZUscvKna5mMkQbRVHMw3To_jWFBiuryPB", "x-api-id": "s3-compatible", "x-content-type-options": "nosniff", "strict-transport-security": "max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains", "access-control-allow-origin": "*", "access-control-allow-methods": "POST,PUT,GET,HEAD,DELETE,OPTIONS", "access-control-allow-credentials": "true", "access-control-expose-headers": "access-control-allow-credentials,access-control-allow-methods,access-control-allow-origin,content-length,content-type,date,opc-client-info,opc-request-id,strict-transport-security,x-amz-request-id,x-api-id,x-content-type-options"} }, service: s3, path: 813acd3beb667641aa616dcd05fb6944.jpg, range: 0- } => S3Error { code: "SignatureDoesNotMatch", message: "The secret key required to complete authentication could not be found. The region must be specified if this is not the home region for the tenancy.", resource: "", request_id: "" }
I replaced sensitive parts with e
x
based on this error message, can you try set
region
for opendal?
g
let me post the complete URI
x
please also share the full config (with sensitive value hided)
g
s3://?endpoint=https%3A%2F%2F.compat.objectstorage.eu-frankfurt-1.oci.customer-oci.com®ion=eu-frankfurt-1&access_key_id=&secret_access_key=
x
Thank you, let me think about this
g
for reference, the same parameters actually work on rclone
x
yep. the uri string seems correct
g
next week I can provide a sample setup if you or anyone else from the team want to figure out what's going on.
x
Thank you for this!
Feel free to ping me then, I'm willing to get it fixed
g
btw I noticed that after the restructuring of the repo post-0.55.0, the registration of the http scheme happens through ctor. Could I use the same method on my side in the meanwhile?
x
And using
ctor
also works
g
great! Thanks.
