Why do I want to do this challenge? I am currently in a zone where I am overwhelmed and distracted with too many things happening at work and also at home. It has been months since I have done any kind of focused activity for prolonged hours for more than a day. What activities can be considered as Deep Work for me? I recently joined a new team a month ago. It's already 30 days and the next 2 weeks are critical for me to start adding value to the team. Hence, I can do one of these to really call it Deep Work πŸ“š Learn - more about the core infra used by my new team (k8s, kong, kong-alt, plugins) ✍️ Write - a document on simplifying processes for my team or explaining my understanding of critical ongoing projects πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Code - Get better at writing production grade apps that will help my team How do I want to structure my challenge? My working days are driven by meetings setup by others. I want to finish my deep work before I get to BAU stuff. I would want to focus for at least an hour around 9-11am. I want to do this regularly for 2 weeks. I can miss a day but I want to complete this activity for at least 12/14 days to call it a win

My challenge is for 20 days. By the end of it, I want to be able to deep work from 6- 10 AM. How do I define deep work Simple. There are three types of work which can be done solo: consuming πŸ“š, creating/using your mind 🧠and dumping/writing ✍. Plain consuming will not be part of deep work. A 30 mins time block will be counted as deep work if it is distraction free. How will I decide what I work on during those 4 hours ⏰ A day prior, I will define what are the things I need to accomplish or spend time on (cold state ❄: rational behavior). At all costs, I want to avoid decision making of what to work on in those 4 hours (hot state ♨️). Will it be gradual 🐌 build up? Yes, I don't intend to start with 4 hours. The challenge is for April's 20 week days. The build up is as follows (in hours): 0.5 (2 days), 1 (3 days), 1.5 (2 days), 2 (3 days), 2.5 (2 days), 3 (3 days), 3.5 (2 days), 4 (3 days) ❀️ 2 Follow

I have tried this earlier at an individual level but have not been able to sustain. Just wanted to experiment how more visibility might help with this. Goal is mostly to assert control on a day to day level and see how far I can sustain it. Reward: 1 Magnolia's chocolate cake slice on every 30th day. The streak restarts from 0 if I claim the reward or and if I don't it keeps on going. Punishment: No video games for the next 2 weeks from the day I fail.

My challenge is for next 30 days. I intend to do 25+ deepwork sessions (preferably between 6-8am). What actions are important for me to make sure I have no hurdles? -Sleeping on time (10pm) -Deciding what I want to work on a day prior I have been already practicing this since last 1 week and I am already at 1 hour of deep work. My goal is distributed in 4 phases : May 2 - May 8 : 1.5 hours of deep work May 9 - May 15 : 2 hours of deep work May 15 - May 21 : Either sustain 2 hours of deep work OR try 2.5 hours May 22 - May 30 : 0.5 incremental hour over last phase Tools which are going to aid me- -morning coffee -morning 5 min mobility -quick breathing sessions in between -Will keep the thread updated with interesting anecdotes, pictures and random gyan Inspired by my good friend @palash πŸ™‚
