While we're at it how about adding a line about how to contribute to modules for agents/human, as we often see people making a modifications in a modules in pipeline instead of doing it upstream?

Jumping on that 2.0, not sure where to propose but what about adding another tick box in issue, pr and pipeline proposal templates, to clarify contributions by: human, agent assisted, fully agentic. Or any idea how to get agent verbosity under control? 😅

nf-core/agents? 😅
Honestly I don't think that a tickbox saying that an LLM was used really does anything
That's not what really matters - what we actually care about is verboity and PR quality
caveman, ponytail, the comment skill I posted the other day etc, there are a bunch of skills around to try to help with this
One option is that we set up some automated reviews and could even do automated edits to try to reduce verbosity? eg. if a reviewer likes the concept but it's obviously sloppy / way too verbose, they drop a
/cutdown
comment on the thread and claude goes in and rewrites to cut all the crap out

Just an idea

I think a check box would be good, just to know what one is dealing with, e.g. to avoid these questions https://github.com/nf-core/genomeassembler/issues/238#issuecomment-6055806792 regarding verbosity, we could have a PR labeler similar to PR size but for PR body size. we don't have claude tokens for the org yet, so can't send an LLM to fix the mess it created

Are we talking code verbosity of PR description verbosity here?
k
Agree with you Phil regarding codebase. etc. There the nf-core/agents does a quite good job tbh. Sorry, for being unspecific. yes descriptions/responses of proposals, issues etc all non code communication (I know a bit of a grey zone since they are connected). Exactly what Matthias said. I don't mind to do more rounds of review if someone has a benefit and learns something from it, however if you do that ping-pong with an AI it's a different story 😉
m
we were discussing adding this to the website https://github.com/nf-core/website/pull/4450/changes with possibility to add a similar section to
CONTRIBUTING.md
in all repos

scverse has quite a nice AI policy by the way: scverse.org/about/ai_policy
As a general rule of thumb, it should not take a human longer to review the code than it does for you to write it.

@mashehu not sure if the bot is quitting it's job due to the topic 😉 / there is an issue with linting
