Hi, a quick question. I've been refactoring rnasplice to match nfcore standard, fixed bugs etc. The pipeline was in an orphaned state. Do I consider myself a maintainer of the pipeline? Just to understand the level of engagement I'm expected to put into this. Thanks, and sorry for the silly question!
There's still a few improvements left before the next release. Will I be able to make the release or there are only specific members who can do that?
e
I would consider you a maintainer alright. It's always valiant to adopt an orphaned pipeline! As long as it passes the two required reviews, I don't see any reason not to have a release

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not 100% familiar with the nfcore conventions yet. I'm happy to maintain the pipeline. I was unsure whether I should engage when there's questions about the pipeline or enhancement requests, you know, just to avoid stepping over boundaries by mistake.

It's entirely fine (and recommended) to engage.
If in doubt, ping the previous maintainer(s) to try to get them to re-engage, but if they don't respond within a reasonable time frame (days-weeks) then just go ahead.

Maybe thisngelps?
A maintainer is currently active as a lead developer of the pipeline and regularly contributes code and manages the project
A maintainer typically has the best current understanding of the pipeline. A pipeline can have multiple maintainers.
A maintainer doesn’t need to be an original author of the pipeline, but can be.
So I would say you fit very nicely :)

Thanks all! Indeed before starting this beautiful journey, I wrote on the pipeline channel but got no answer and noticed that it was not updated since a couple of years ago. I'll take care of the pipeline and of course everyone is welcome to join!

Yep, I encouraged Paolo to take it over, you're definitely a maintainer now 😉

if you haven't already, you should update the repo to list yourself as a maintainer

Thanks @Simon Pearce , I'll do!
