Are there any Galaxy admins around? I’ve got a config question I can’t seem to figure out 😓

#C04PPJLT1T3 might help? (I'm not it, although I did a fair amount of swearing a number of years ago when I looked into trying to couple it with a slurm setup in a sensible and at least somewhat secure way.)
n
Since i recently had a chat about setting up Galaxy->Slurm, how did that work out @pontus?
p
The only sane way of doing it back then was to run an instance per user with a reverse proxy that routes to the corresponding instance (for the PoC, I did authentication there and launched the instance if it wasn't running).
n
Does not sound amazing tbh
You had to do that to get around the issue with Galaxy not being able to submit as a user?
p
Yes (I also think there was some kind of file browser functionality that had to be run like this to be usable).
m
I was just looking for a way to have a tool use multiple threads 😅 can’t seem to find a correct answer and the robots hallucinate config that doesn’t exist
p
Are you doing the tool (
GALAXY_TOOL
) or the runner (then it's creating a destination with the right number of slots)?
m
Yeah, I’m looking for a way to set the
GALAXY_SLOTS
variable for a single tool
it defaults to 1, and since our galaxy instance is only used for very small utilities for our lab techs, we’ve never had to find out how it works
p
Not that I've really used galaxy, but I think it's a two step process - define a destination that gives two slots, map the tool to that destination.
