Hello everyone, I’m testing the centrifuger module locally on an Apple Silicon (arm64) machine., When running: i get : - with
nf-test test modules
... --> i get segmentation fault error 139, while - with
nf-core modules test
--> i get specified "rosetta error, couldnt find free space to alocate memory"... From what I understand, this is likely due to Docker using linux/amd64 containers.. Shall i try to rely on Github CI or is other way recommended way to work with AMR-based system??? Thank you for your time
m
you can try to test it on github codespaces in the modules repo. or do you want to get it running on apple silicon?
h
Thanks for response, yeah i was looking for solution, running it on apple silicon locally , if thats not possible i will try setting up codespaces again šŸ™‚
m
did you try actually cleaning space in your docker environment? see if that helps?
h
i just tried that, it didnt help. Rosetta error isnt mainly about virtual memory?

I use Colima: https://github.com/abiosoft/colima which allows pretty precise controls over CPU/memory/disk on Mac.
For mac I believe Docker Desktop runs a Linux VM?

Thanks for the responses! Still segmentaion fault in codespaces,! Is it maybe because i created index files locally (apple silicion), and now testing them in codespaces?
Update: Test passed when database was built inside Docker container on native x86 (GitHub Codespaces).
