I can repro this issue on https://meet.livekit.io/ and my ISP is sonic (geo ip is locating me in San Francisco)
General effect is adding a lot of latency and lowering our throughput to send data and video

Hey @refined-telephone-69723, we have temporarily disabled our DC in US-West as it’s exhibiting inter-DC connectivity issues. I’m curious to hear more about the latency you’re seeing, we have been running traffic from other users and our own internal meetings connecting to US-E from the west coast with no noticeable issues.

Ahh I see. We’re mostly seeing that our throughput in sending data (e.g. 2MB chunked 60kb) is slower than what we were seeing on US West for US West based clients
Video is less effected and likely the framerate + latency is a tad worse but not noticeable
d
that makes sense. we are in the process of adding a few more data centers around the world (including moving to a new hosting provider for the one in us-west). Will share more announcements soon! related the team had investigated data channel throughput and we have some improvements in the pipeline too. (i.e. Pion SCTP doesn't perform very well with loss or high latency)

Really great news to hear! We use Livekit as much for data as video (probably unlike most users) and ended up having to impl some application side ack for data sending. Any ETA on bringing US-west back online? Would be helpful to see any status updates on status.liveit.com
And Australia would be a welcome addition if it’s under consideration!

Yeah, good point about making these visible on status.livekit. we'll think about improving this process
