Hey there 👋 Meet uses LiveKit Cloud, so yes, it should be representative.
d
we are using 32kbps (client-side default) for Meet
k
I just did a comparison test. Meet is faster than my Cloud. Is there anything else?
d
what do you mean? What is the application you are testing for
my Cloud
?
m
Also @kind-beach-4740 — here is all the code for Meet: https://github.com/livekit/meet
k
I tested on flutter and connected to the cloud address in my account.
d
application side differences would likely explain the difference in perceived speed. We have spent quite a bit of time optimizing the experience within web components. You should be able to get to the same level of performance with your Flutter app. Are you just trying the example app? And which OS are you running on?
k
I am testing with Android Flutter. I need to get one thing clear, does Livekit have different regional server clusters? For example my users come from many countries and talk need to connect nearest server
m
Yes, this is how Cloud works. Multiple regions and each user connects to the closest region.
k

I want to ask one more question. Livekit for Unity mobile. Is it possible to talk in the background like Flutter?
m
LiveKit’s Unity SDK supporting mobile targets hasn’t been released yet. But, I have to imagine that, at least in theory, it should support native device background modes? cc @boundless-energy-78552 for visibility

Hey duc, are you talking about our future Unity Native SDK or the current WebGL SDK running in a mobile browser?
k
Unity native sdk sir
Hi sir, Can you help me?
Can you help me? sir

@kind-beach-4740 just a gentle reminder that the LK core team provides free support in this community. While we’re genuinely happy to help everyone be successful, we also spend most of our time working to make LiveKit itself better. This means we may not have the cycles to respond to your message(s) until our respective evenings, or weekends. We appreciate your understanding and patience. 🙏🏽
The Unity native SDK will most likely support background modes for mobile targets by the 1.0 release or maybe earlier. We can’t promise this will be the case for the initial developer preview, as there’s a lot of ground to cover (many targets) and our priority is to have the basics working across the board, first.
k
Yes. Is Unity Native Sdk usable now? I don't see unity sdk clearly but only see example
m
It is not yet available. We currently offer a Unity WebGL target SDK. A developer preview version of a Unity native SDK is coming fairly soon (within the next few weeks).
k
I know a lot of programmers who would love Livekit. Photon voice is bad, Vivox has high latency

m
I haven’t used Photon, but I’ve used Vivox via playing Valorant. I’ve definitely seen quirks (that may be a result of Riot’s implementation), but latency seems fine. Have you integrated Vivox before? What makes Photon’s bad?
k
the voice quality is not good and the bandwidth is too high compared to the same test level with Livekit, Sir
m
Thanks for the detail here @kind-beach-4740

Hi, Can Unity Native Sdk publish in March?
I think my project is better suited to go with Unity
m
Yes, I believe a developer preview will be available by then.
