@bright-tiger-35509 you’re doing simulcast for screenshare. With that, if you subscribe to LOW, you will receive a low res layer. I think it is worth trying screenshare without simulcast.
b
But my low res preset is 720p @ 5 fps. But I am getting very low res like 480p.
f
Looks like upstream is not able to sustain that resolution then. So it might be that the settings you are using for layers is not able to sustain it
b
Yeah, so I am relying on the settings like content hint or degradation preference on sender. But these are not functioning the way they are said in the documentation. I think there is a gap in my understanding
f
Lukas would be the best person to answer that
p
@bright-tiger-35509 I haven’t experimented with different contentHints on the mediastreamtrack yet, but sounds like this would be a nice addition to add to the publish options! did you confirm that the lower simulcast layers actually also have the 720p resolution?
b
Could it be that my videpresets for lower resolution are not in the same aspect ratio, so the frame height and width are adjusting as per that?
Also should I try disabling simulcast , would it not flood room with pli?
f
Without simulcast is worth a try. Server should map layers appropriately. If not simulcast, all qualities (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW) should all map to the one layer. So, there should not be any PLI storm. If that is not the case, there is a bug somewhere 🙂
