if you turn on
adaptiveStream
, it'll automatically pause the stream when not in view. docs here

Thank you for the reply. I am using client-sdk-react-native. I would like to know if, until I switch to VideoView -> import { VideoView } from '@livekit/react-native' or RTCView; the video track, I shouldn't consume bandwidth, even if I'm subscribed. Is that correct?
p
as david pointed out, this depends on the
adaptiveStream
setting on your room object. When you use the VideoView component AND have
adaptiveStream
enabled, then you will only consume bandwidth for visible video tracks.
n
Should I ask if the previously mentioned principle regarding dynamic bandwidth management based on the visibility of video tracks also applies in terms of audio management?
p
there’s no equivalent for audio today. If you’re subscribed to an audio track, its data will get pulled down from the server

I apologize for taking advantage, but let me explain the scenario to ask for some advice. I have a list of users connected in the room, and by clicking on a user, I want to listen to/see their stream. Do you advise using manual subscription? If so, do you have any examples for React Native?
