Hi guys, Is there a way to have dynamic compact metrics? For instance, 1,500 becomes 1.50K, and 2,510,000 becomes 2.51M Right now, it seems we can only statically set it as one or the other (K or M). Cheers!

Hi @Guillaume GO, Dynamic compact formatting isn't currently supported, so you have to pick one unit (K, M, B, etc.) and it applies regardless of the value's magnitude. There's an open feature request tracking this: https://github.com/lightdash/lightdash/issues/20651 - I've upvoted it on your behalf so you'll get notified of any updates. I unfortunately don't have any workarounds to suggest. But I would be interested to understand how often this need comes up for you so I can make a note on our side!

Hi @Jess Hitchcock, We're facing this situation on most of our dashboards, reason being we often start dashboards with a line of "big value" charts to summarize the whole thing, and we're using datasets containing millions of invoices and billions of transaction amount, so whenever our end users interact with the filters, we'd like for the compact formatting to automatically adjust. FYI, a feature similar to this one (at the .yml file level, not necessarily in the UI) would be perfect

you can also look at data studio (aka looker studio) their big number has the option "compact numbers"

Upvote this one, we also has the same issue, when we have set the data to Mil, it make total number looks fine but when user filter out, the number become smaller and it break things. If we have auto option would be great (e.g. it would auto choose mil for billions data and billion for trillion values, thousand for million data,...)

One remark to this effort. Regarding internationalization: currently we have

THOUSANDS, MILLIONS, BILLIONS, TRILLIONS

for numbers, which is very confusion for Europe. Currently the compact feature is not usable if we go pass the Billions (US) / milliard (EU) see here. So it probably would make sense to add multiple compact scales as well or add this to a lightdash i18n ticket.
