    they were right from the start and the saas folks dogged them and then copied them and then talked bootstrap into converting

    I'm not fan of custom tags 🙄 what about custom attributes prefixed with
    ms-
    like htmx ones
    hx-
    ? Like
    ms-card
    and
    data-ms-card

    For example, components may use custom attributes but utilities will use classes.
    <div ms-card class="bg-poo">

    Yes, that sounds reasonable. To use the
    density
    utility that @User proposed (and that I love) and the custom-tag alternative syntax:
    Copy code
    html
    <missing-card class="density:2">
      ...
    </missing-card>

    I found classless.css via discussion here a month or two ago. I found it just about perfect for my needs. Simple, looks decent, covers the 90 part of the use case, works well with pure semantic html, and is written in a way that's pretty easy to override, expand (or even strip down) if needed.

    in fact, it may call the whole effort into question, but charging ahead into a pointless battle is kind of a specialty of mine!

    It has a few things I felt the need to override for my particular use case, such as the tool tips being the width of the content and input fields being block and not inline-block. But even a mostly noob to CSS like me could understand the core CSS well enough to override them with a single line each.
