    I believe this document is somewhat outdated, on the video the say that they are now leveraging CSS animations which is much better than having just a few predefined animations.

    nobody's going to press a button that's halfway visible unless your transition is really slow

    well done transition animations help usability, if you are just waiting to interact with a UI something is wrong... most native mobile apps have subtle transition that actually help the user,
