of course, the example on wikipedia is idiotic and doesn't use a hypertext

as with most articles on wikipedia, if you know the subject matter you immediately wonder how this information ever made it onto a web page

I think @mysterious-toddler-20573 people are very comfortable thinking as big blobs. The thing is, DataKnots seems much more compatible with HTMX than large component frameworks.

it has advantages, but you give up the uniform access model of the web

I don't blame anyone for going with Angular or Vue. It's the IBM and Sun Microsystems of the current zeitgiest

"But seriously, you should build your apps using a library written by a random guy living in the frozen tundra of Montana, not by a foundational company in the current online economy with hundreds of developers and billions of dollars available..."

Yea, even so that HATEOAS example uses JSON, not HTML and nested forms.

XSLT was interesting. I remember going to J2EE conferences where there were whole tracks for it.

The model though is almost the inverse of component based programming.

JSON nuked both XML and that eco-system and any sane understanding of REST/HATEOAS
  • l

When I'm talking w/ folks about REST the conversation goes: them: "htmx is rest. rest is JSON" me: "REST requires HATEOAS. JSON isn't a hypertext. The first letter in HATEOAS stands for Hypertext. So, therefore, JSON isn't a good fit for REST." them: "But rest is JSON. You are stupid." me: stares out window wistfully
