i feel like angular is c++ front end, even tho it uses ts and its really objectively structured
  • c
    which is funny
  • c
atleast thats my impression and feelings about angular in the front end world
  • c
im not surprised why react is the most used tool for front end
  • c
cause its hella enjoyable to make anything in it and its hella simple, vue and svelte are also amazing
  • c
but angular is the worst experience i got in this industry, and ive tried many tools around web/mobile development
  • c
anyways i wanna jump into htmx soon cause it looks amazing to me and is really handy

  • s
I have form and added to it ht-ext="json-enc" but on button submit it send as www-form-url-encoded.
  • s
and its not encoding it as json either

what's the best event to use for boosted links - something like unload page /load page
  • m
    I’ve been using
    beforeSwap
    to do cleanup, and
    load
for the initial and subsequent “new tree” init logic
  • h
won't that trigger for every load though?
  • m
Both registered globally; the handler func has a
    target
prop that tells you what container is being swapped
  • m
    Hmm
  • m
I s’pose? My use case might be too simplistic
  • m
It’s the same manifest of stuff that (maybe) gets initialized within any container, so I actually do want to handle every swap the same, regardless of whether it’s a full-page boost request or some atomic thing
  • m
(Also I’ve shifted the boost-replaced node down below
    body
to retain some of the site’s “chrome”)
  • h
perhaps using load + target is on body is the right thing to do?
  • h
Right now I'm setting one for window load and one for pushedIntoHistory
  • h
any interest in an event for loadOrBoostedLoad?
  • m
an FYI: my linux laptop is in the process of dying. I am temporarily on an old windows laptop while I wait for a replacement. I have moved some stuff over to the windows machine, but I'm basically treading water until the new one shows up. Sorry for delay in answering anything.

Imagine I create a html-snippet on the server and send it to the client. This works fine .... except this html snippet needs some custom js/css. Since I love locality of behaviour, I would like to have a way that I can add some special attribute to the html snippets which tells htmx to load some js/css (if it has not loaded it before). Does something like this already exist?
  • h
    like a script tag?
  • s
Maybe a script tag is enough. Imagine the snippet is a search result. And the page contains the snippet 50 times. This would mean the script tag is 50 times on the page.. Maybe this is just a problem in my head, and the browser handles this fine without any decrease in speed.
  • h
well it would cache the load after the first one
  • h
you'd still load it 50 times
  • h
you could write a script tag that would check for some kind of global, and if not present add the script tag and then set the global
  • h
"Modules are only executed once, even if they have been referenced in multiple tags."
  • h
    that could work yeah
