I have an extension in the vite that will send a websocket event to the page to force a refresh

when html changes

it will HMR when js/css changes

I am styling in tailwind and when I update the html it hard refreshes the page which flickers/is slow

I thought it might be nice to htmx in the page on html change

I have the event firing on change already so I think it might be something like

I would trigger a custom event and listen for it on the element you want to refresh via the body

I'm new to _hyperscript. I have some timers each with their own display. If I wanted only 1 display I need to stop the current one otherwise they both run. I read a bit about stop and halt but couldn't work out a solution: `<button class="text-lg font-normal underline text-center" _="on click set :timer to 60 put :timer into next repeat until :timer is 0 wait 1s decrement :timer then put :timer into next end">60 Second Timer <button class="text-lg font-normal underline text-center" _="on click set :timer to 120 put :timer into next repeat until :timer is 0 wait 1s decrement :timer then put :timer into next end">2 Min Second Timer <button class="text-lg font-normal underline text-center" _="on click set :timer to 180 put :timer into next repeat until :timer is 0 wait 1s decrement :timer then put :timer into next end">3 Min Second Timer

nevermind I thought i had a great idea to make css adjusting more fun

but I was foiled https://github.com/vitejs/vite/issues/5808

I think I'll come back to this when they fix that though, I think that might do the equivalent of HMR for html

@mysterious-toddler-20573 could you group the language related channels under a new heading in Discord? We've got lots now and it'll make it easier to distinguish them from the general question ones

no u

is anyone interested in registering an IRC channel for htmx?

discord = the new irc, for better or worse

matrix > irc >>>>>>>> discord

agreed but 1/1000th the people use the others

Having scrollback is a big win over IRC.

Not trying to make comparisons TBH 🙂 just wanted to know if an IRC chan would be welcome or you prefer to not "spread" things...

any service that gives me chatlogs is better than discord

Personally I use a lot more IRC than discord, and there are very active channels (for example #Django). Anyway, it was just a suggestion, I am available to register the channel if you think it is a nice idea

Not just being contrary but I prefer Discord 🤷‍♂️ 🙂

I think this is probably where the real reticence lies… spreading the community out. We don’t do a great job as it is, keeping up with all the action on Twitter (we’ll Carson does, but not all of us are blessed with apparently a prototype Neuralink direct Twitter-stream-to-brain interface), Reddit, Stackoverflow, etc. This Discord space seems to be doing ok as far as I can tell (fwiw I like it here)…. that said, if more folks feel highly motivated towards IRC (e.g. @User seems to have little love for the Discord mechanics), then they should speak up 🙏

just what I needed. Hope it helps someone else: https://emoji-css.afeld.me/

I feel about discord the way I feel about github and democracy: it's the worst possible option, except for all the others.

You mean it's the best of the worst??

i'm highly motivated towards matrix, not irc

if I set hx-trigger to mousedown it works great for loading things a little faster, but the mouse up event now triggers a full page reload.. i assume this is because htmx is no longer using that event and thus not preventing the browser navigation?

is there any way to accomplish the 'load the mouse down not on mouse up' behavior in a painless way?
