That's awesome - it's literally the answer to my current problem. I've got some buttons that are using
    hx-post
and I want to update the table they're in, rather than the buttons themselves.

    HX-Retarget works like a charm!

    Thanks so much guys.

Looks like I've run up against this bug https://github.com/bigskysoftware/htmx/issues/782 when trying to do
    hx-trigger="change from:[name^=foo]"
. Can anyone else confirm that
    hx-trigger
doesn't take CSS attribute selectors (yet)? EDIT: ugh nevermind: typo 🙄 looks like it works good for me, so not sure about the GH issue

Is there anything in particular you'd like PRs against?
  • m
Nope, but if you want to go through the bug list and find something you'd like to take a shot at, that' would be wonderful!

    yaaay merging

you asked me to pull out some ;'s in my pr - what are your thoughts on stetting up pre-commit?

there's no way to run a snippet of JS using HTMX, right? the best option is hx-trigger into a hyperscript listener?
  • f
    With
    HX-Trigger
you can register any JS Event-listener
  • r
gotcha. I think I saw someone earlier in this chat (or maybe a github issue) for an arbitrary "run JS" sort of event, can't recall what 1cg said about it though

Hello again, my journey into htmx is going really well. A small issue I noted when returning the "HX-Push" header. It updates the url bar to the pushed address perfectly, but the title of the new pushed pages titles in the history(press and hold chrome back button down) show the originally loaded html page title. Is there any work around or way to set the page titles in history along with the HX-Push?
  • g
Oh, may have just answered my own question, looks like if you include a title tag in the fragment, works fine... nope, doing that overwrites the history titles.

Draft of Issue 9 of This Week in HTMX: https://e9b7301e.this-week-in-htmx.pages.dev/issue/9/ Feedback welcome. What should the title be? This one doesn't actually feature any discord messages, but it has the video demos @User shared.

sounds like a bug, please log it and I'll try to get it in the 1.7 release
  • m
Not sure if this is what you are after, but you can call a js function to use as filter for a specific trigger.
  • m
    For example
    hx-trigger="input[someFunction(event)]"
    .
  • r
Thanks, but I'm looking to call js that my server comes up with to be ran on the client - the trigger works fine for my purposes
  • m
I think if you include a script tag in your response it will be executed. But if you want more control, then I'd go with the trigger header.

Hi everyone, I'm playing with HTMX and have an issue that I haven't been able to work around. I have hx-boost enabled on my body, and a div with hx-preserve that contains an audio element. When I navigate to other pages using links, it works fine, but when I press the back button, the element gets replaced and the audio stops playing. Is there a way to say to always keep the current element that has hx-preserve, instead of overwriting it with the history state?
  • m
    that's a bug
  • m
I saw someone log it, I will have it fixed for the 1.7 release

Okay, thank you for that. I did try to search Github Issues, but i must have missed it.
  • m
no prob, it's a brand new one I think
  • m
    we'll make it work
