I think unpoly updates stuff by ids, similarly to htmx's OOB updates.
  • m
What if we had a “stitch” swap where we merge all content by ids into the target but leave everything else alone?
  • m
We do have the morphdom extension which does a great job in cases like this
  • b
Feels like you could achieve the
    stitch
idea by returning a load of
    oob
swaps. Also suggests that you need to have an
    ID
    on everything. Maybe have
    hx-stitch
attributes that are css-selectors for which children to update?

Could you use the polling div to show a notification message like "New data available. Click here to refresh." when there's new data, and just remain empty when there isn't? Then, "Click to refresh" link becomes the trigger to reload your form.

    I agree with @User –
    stitch
seems like a slightly more elegant way to achieve the same thing
    hx-swap-oob
would, but saves you from having to implement a dedicated endpoint with slightly modified but replicated logic (in order to wrap each individual element in
    hx-swap-oob
    ).

    > for morphing an existing DOM node tree to match a target DOM node tree. morphdom indeed sounds quite promising. Thanks for the pointer – I'll have a look!
  • f
    That's also a sleak idea. Can't believe I haven't thought of it 😄
  • s
I'm just thinking about the poor user who could be typing mid-sentence or select-list-scrolling, and the form changes from underneath their cursor 😄 This way, they at least have the opportunity to decide / remember where they are / copy some important value 🙂

What css framework (if any) does https://htmx.org/ use?
  • m
I forget, it was a minimal one and then I chopped it up
  • m
Not exactly my finest work 😑
  • b
Does anyone have a quick idea on why this anchor tag is not performing the html swap as it should but instead returns the html in the whole viewport?
  • b
Been trying to figure this out for hours now
  • b
    does the
    hx-boost
need to be on the parent? The docs show it being on a
    div
and then has links as children.
  • b
Doesn't seem so, it has the same behavior
  • b
If it's on the parent div then it would mean that whatever is inside the div would inherit it anyway
  • b
Yeah - I was wondering if it only got applied to children, not the element that it's on
  • b
    Does the request have any
    hx-
    headers? What's in devtools?
  • m
are you meaning to select some html out of the response?
  • b
    No, the whole respone
  • b
The link is a get request to a partial django view which would replace the contents of a div with id generator
  • b
@User not sure how to check for that since clicking on the link redirects me to the response page and removes all network trafic from the tab
  • b
There should be a "preserve log" option on the network tab. It's a tickbox I think.
  • b
Though, tbh, if you're being redirected, it sounds like the link is just acting as a link
  • b
Hm yea, it doesn't seem that the ajax is working as it should on a link?
  • b
Yeah - seems like there's something more fundamental that's broken. Are things behaving as they should elsewhere on the page?
  • b
Yea ... everything else is working fine 😕
