Having trouble triggering an event from an

hx-swap

with

HX-Trigger

response header. What else can I do to debug this?

hx-trigger: { "test" : "test" }

shows up in the resposne headers in dev tools I have this at the end of body

And I tested the above with

document.body.dispatchEvent(new Event("test"))

and the alert does trigger from that test, but not on my trigger code

Headers are not supposed to be case sensitive to my knowledge. The server I'm using is rewriting it to lower case even tho I set it uppercase

Hi everyone, I'm developing an HTMX web app where the users might have intermittently flakey internet access. Rather than rewrite the whole thing in React like some people around me are suggesting, it seems like the easiest solution is just to notify the user that their form submit (with

hx-post

) timed out and ask them to click the button again. How would I implement this with HTMX and/or Hyperscript and/or AlpineJS though? I figured the simplest way would be to change the button's colour if the request times out. Or I could show a notification overlay. But I'm not sure how to get notified of the

hx-post

success or failure. Any pointers would be great. Thanks all.

you can listen for those events and disable the element in question

Ah cool! So I could actually, listen for

htmx:beforeRequest

to change the button to a waiting indicator, then listen for

htmx:sendError

and/or

htmx:timeout

to change it to a "please retry me" state and finally listen for

htmx:afterRequest

and change it to a success state.

in the case of errors, the afterRequest fires right away

you could disable it and start a background ping to reestablish functionality

A while back, when we got the infusion of "hey, I use htmx with [my language]", were any of those folks using Rust? I finally grokked the aspect of it I hadn't (tried 5x previously) over this weekend, and I think I'll be starting to write a web application with it soon (using htmx, of course).
