    good news! neither am I!
  • l
    hahah
  • l
how would I turn this into a formal plugin?
  • l
upload it to a CDN and send you the link?
  • m
take a look at the existing plugins, clean yours up, we can talk a bit about the functionality, test it, I accep tthe pull request
  • m
    have you used github before?
  • l
    yes, yes
  • g
@User, Coming from Django, I don't really think in a SPA mindset, but with HTMX I might change some of my approaches. I really like how simple this is.
  • m
yep, just fork and create a new plugin in the
    src/ext
    folder

Yes, https://dev.htmx.org/extensions/alpine-morph/. I was using morphdom but saw this was newer so I thought I'd use it. I guess I have to use the dev branch of htmx?
  • e
Yes, I was using that but I saw alphine-morph was newer so tried to use it
  • m
Ah, got it. tbh I had forgotten about it entirely 😑
  • m
    let me look
  • m
    looks pretty simple

sorry, have been heads down on hyperscript 0.9.4 and most of the htmx stuff has swapped to disk
  • m
the older I get, the smaller core memory gets
  • l
sounds like a plan! I will send you a message once done with the extension!

Just thinking out loud here but there’s something about htmx (and hyperscript) that feels like it would work well with a file system based framework. Something where the path on disk maps to the URL. In playing with FastAPI, there’s a bit of boilerplate for getting a url and template wired together which feels like it could be avoided. Plus there’s then a disconnection between the backend processing and the front end template - stick them both in the same file and you get some client/server-Locality-of-Behaviour. Who wouldn’t want that?
  • b
I think some of the JS frameworks do this sort of thing. I think SvelteKit does? Maybe Next.js?
  • b
Though I’ve now just realised backend code mixed with templates is basically PHP.
  • b
Sounds like I’ve reinvented something from 20 years ago. Better post to HackerNews and get some VC funding!
  • m
I like the idea of mapping end points directly to controllers and controller methods
  • m
    Copy code
    /www/controller.go
  /www/contacts/controller.go
  etc.
  • m
    (I know nothing about go)
  • m
but /www/ would map (maybe via a bootstrap file) to
    /
    and then
    /contacts
    to, well,
    /contacts
    etc.
  • m
    seems clean to me
  • m
    /contacts/new
    =>
    /www/contacts/controller#new
    etc.
  • b
Go would be interesting as I’d assume it would need a compile step. But that’s no real issue.
