Got it to work. You have to execute the select picker once the request has finished

document.body.addEventListener('htmx:afterOnLoad', (event) => {
    $('#id_product').selectpicker('refresh')
})

a shorthand version:

javascript
htmx.onLoad(function(elt) {
  $(elt).find('#id_product').selectpicker('refresh');
})

nb that we find the

#id_product

in the new content, rather than globally, so that we don't re-init it if we replace other content around it.

Super thanks! The problem is that I fetch a form with HTMX, and after the fetch I have to use the selectpicker function on a select-field. So firing selectpicker on pageload would not work. Also I have a lot of HTMX forms/buttons on one page. So it would fire every time a HTMX request is made, which would not be good. So i found a solution for that:

document.body.addEventListener('htmx:afterOnLoad', (event) => {
    if (event.detail.requestConfig.path.includes("get-order-item-form")){
        $('#id_product').selectpicker('refresh')
    }
})

Would this be the recommended way to check where a HTMX request was made from?

that's reasonable

but to be honest, I think the perf of the version I gave above would be unnoticable since find by id is so fast

Alright thanks, I will try to implement your version!

The guy is preaching for his parish. Yes SPA are ok if you are building an app but using react/svelte/vuejs and express for a blog or equivalent is just being braindead

Not to sound too contradictory but, What is an app? the vast majority of "apps" just do strait laced crud and non of that kinky stuff that you might need to do with page builders and what not. I'd argue that the vast majority of "apps" are better written with a howl stack.

thankfully, we do not suffer from that here 😉

\> when someone starts ranting incoherently about the over-complexity of javascript frameworks

Yes. And even relatively complex “apps” are easier in htmx/hyperscript. You’ve got to go pretty far down the road (like a mapping app or 3d game?) for htmx to be the worse option.

(And I’m not even convinced that maps are past the line. We’ll have to see…)

hi, please put a proper contact e-mail on your homepage. i happen to have discord but a lack of open standard contact channels makes it difficult for people to converse

https://htmx.org/essays/a-response-to-rich-harris/ - in the second significant paragraph from the end, the hyperlink to hyperscript.org is misspelled

thank you, we will fix

i checked the "talk" tab and couldn't find it. also, i sought neither consulting nor training

good article, i like the writing style, i agree that single page apps suck, have a good day

happy holidays

👍 we will add an email contact to the talk page

Wow. Good job on staying so patient with your responses 👏

🙂

some HN comment greatest hits: > I'm not saying that either one is better, but that to use Stack Overflow trends to prove a point seems very fallacious. By that point I couldn't finish the rest of the article. > I'm sorry but what's the point here? Rich's talk was not even remotely aimed at HTMX yet this article is nothing but a shameless list of HTMX features. > Any decent framework nowadays can be used to implement "transitional" features, so HTMX using this as a way to plug their own is lazy and annoyingly counterproductive in this particular discussion. > I'll also note that htmx is making a programming language, but they don't seem to understand they are making a programming language, and that usually ends up a disaster. > I don't mean to belittle anyone, but libraries like htmx are rather primitive compared to tools like svelte. What makes them see themselves so important?

This response to the "htmx is making a programming language" comment is pure gold 😂 > Ah, and this is precisely where you make your bloomer: we are not making a programming language. > Rather, we are making two programming languages: > https://hyperscript.org/

ya'll there's an article on /r/programming that needs upvotes

the comment section on hackernews is dogshit, holy crap
