I was talking w/ a friend and he said something that might be useful might be a
    hx-default
attr that would just zero out any attribute inheritance
  • h
like a reset to default attr
  • m
    I like an
    hx-reset
    attribute
  • m
u suggested it u make it

A second question I haven't been able to find an answer to in the docs
  • h
I have a list of messages that are coming in as oob
  • h
so it builds up over time
  • h
a user clicks a link, gets a boosted page and the boosted page might have it's own set of messages
  • h
is there something like hx-preserve that will merge the two?
  • m
    yeeesh
  • m
this is all client side state?
  • m
You could preserve the messages and then, instead of rendering the new messages on the new page, trigger an event to add them.
  • h
    hmmm
  • m
but it sounds like you want to merge them
  • h
    merging would be easier
  • m
gonna be a lot easier if this is server side
  • h
    the messages are not durable
  • h
Django clears them out as soon as you render
  • h
so you have like a backlog of messages and the once you move through it they are consumed
  • m
    ok
  • m
    similar to the rails flash
  • l
I don't know if this is the same question, but I've been wondering how I can handle sending a form with htmx to Django, and in the response, also have some messages to inject into the message area at the top of the page.
  • h
    Exactly like rails flash yeah
  • h
I have an example of that, give me a sec and I'll send you the code
