@User can you think of a way off the top of your head to replicate

ic-deps="ignore"

when using the path-deps extension? 😬 I.e. in some cases explicitly stop the dependent path elements from triggering?

probably just reimplement it

shouldn't be too much work, gimme a sec

Yes, I mean it like I said it. I think to always use form-encoding, even if you don't add files. Less conditions, less code, less bugs. But I have not used this in a htmx based project yet.

It's live! https://github.com/bit-badger/Giraffe.Htmx/tree/v0.9.1

Is there an 'htmx-way' to send a custom event, similar to hyperscript's

send

command? The idea would be to send an event after receiving an ajax response.

use hyperscript listening to htmx:afterOnLoadEvent.

So: - send htmx ajax request from "element-A" - once response is received, "element-A" sends a custom event to "element-B" via hyperscript (with an 'on htmx:afterOnLoad' script)

Now, "element-B" needs to send its own ajax request. Can I do it via htmx? Can I use a custom event as a trigger?

Yes

If you don't mind you can also trigger the event from the server using a header and send it back with the HTML response https://htmx.org/headers/hx-trigger/

That one is perfect for my use-case - 🙏 thank you!

did a full walk through, holy smokes, how do people live like this

I got the write-up about the initial release of the library done - "Introducing Giraffe.Htmx" https://blog.bitbadger.solutions/2021/introducing-giraffe-htmx.html

lmk if you tweet it out, I'll boost

You should have gotten the tag. 🙂

Use forums rather than Slack/Discord to support developer community: https://www.mooreds.com/wordpress/archives/3451

Some interesting thoughts here. Thought I'd share

I haven’t read it, but based on the title i agree 😋

I’ve read that some projects started using GitHub discussions for example

I agree, but we set up a disquss or whatever and no one went there

😑

It might be a matter of community size. It takes a certain number of members to get a forum going. Perhaps the experience would be different now. KirbyCMS (https://getkirby.com) uses both: a forum and a discord server, quite successfully. The discord server works well to build a ‘living community’, with chit-chat and friendly banter that often doesn’t revolve around Kirby at all. Quick support questions get answered, but anything more ‘substantial’ gets referred to the forum. The forum has built a searchable knowledge base of answers and suggestions over the years, so most Kirby developers know to look there first, and to post any questions or support requests there - specially if the answer is something others can benefit from.

what do you use for your forum?

Kirby uses Discourse - you can see it here: https://forum.getkirby.com

ok, that's what we tried to use

it got shut down for lack of use 😑

I suspect your experience would probably be different now - based on the amount of traffic I’ve seen here in the past week or two.
