    lol i saw that
  • w
    you saw nothing
  • c
    how can i make a tween stop?
  • c
    like when i press a key the tween just cancels and the object stays in place
  • c
    FlxTween.tween()
    returns an instance of
    FlxTween
    , which you can call cancel on later.
    Copy code
    hx
var myTween:FlxTween;

function startTheTween(){
  myTween = FlxTween.tween(...);
}

function stopTheTween(){
   if(myTween == null){
      return;
   }
   myTween.cancel();
}

    In coding, what's an expression?
  • c
    ah thx
  • c
    Basically, anything that can be evaluated is an expression. ex:
    1+1
    or
    functionCall()
    The result of an expression can be assigned to a variable returned from a function, etc
    var a = 1+1;
    var result = getResult();
    https://haxe.org/manual/expression.html#:~:text=5%20Expressions,what%20that%20method%20should%20do This is the first page of the docs on expressions. Everything under that section (Blocks, literals, constants, etc) are all expressions, or can be combined to make expressions.

    👍 thx

    kinda a weird question, but can someone help me turn a godot shader into haxeflixel shader
  • c
    for some reason my if statement doesnt work in my custom function
  • c
    Copy code
    haxe
function punchHim(elapsed:Float){
buttons.kill();
punch.kill();
add(punchbar);
add(line);
if(FlxG.keys.anyPressed([ENTER])){
    linetween.cancel();
    }
}
  • w
    try adding a log to see if things are called when you expect, or at all
    Copy code
    hx
function punchHim(elapsed:Float){
    buttons.kill();
    punch.kill();
    add(punchbar);
    add(line);
    var enterPressed =  FlxG.keys.pressed.ENTER;
    FlxG.log.add('punch called, enter: $enterPressed');
    if(enterPressed){
        linetween.cancel();
    }
}

    and then when testing in debug mode press the ~ key in game to show the log
  • c
    it kept adding it as false for a bit then it became true
  • c
    it was kinda confusing idk how to explain it
  • w
    was it false until you pressed ENTER?
  • c
    no i dont think so
  • c
    i just clicked my mouse then it suddenly became true
  • w
    thats weird
  • w
    ive never seen keys not work
  • h
    Was focus not on the right window ?
  • w
    ^
  • w
    the only time I've seen keys not work is if: the game isn't focused, or the game is paused there is an active FlxReplay you just switched states
  • a
    are FlxColors 32 bit colors?
