Sorry if this comes across as harsh—that isn’t my intention. I’m raising this because it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
I’ve reported several cases over the past few weeks describing how painfully slow Graphite’s UI has become. I was hoping to see some acknowledgement or improvement, but so far I haven’t noticed any meaningful change.
From a technical perspective—and this is only a guess—it almost feels as though the UI is applying caching in a way that hurts responsiveness. As a user, I often find myself repeatedly refreshing the page just to see changes that I know were already made through the CLI. I don’t know what’s happening internally, but each week the UI seems to become less reliable, both in terms of performance and in consistently reflecting the current state.
To make matters worse, the CLI has also become noticeably slower. Even pushing a very small PR can now take well over a minute. Since Graphite is built on top of Git, I can’t tell whether the bottleneck is in Git or Graphite itself. All I can say is that performing equivalent operations directly with Git remains as fast as ever.
Could you let me know whether you’re already aware of these issues, whether any work is planned to address them, and whether you have any timeline or update you can share? I’m asking sincerely because, apart from a few small fixes, I haven’t perceived much progress after reporting these problems, and it’s becoming difficult to know whether the feedback is reaching the right people or being acted upon.
I appreciate the work that goes into maintaining a product like this, and I’m not expecting every issue to be fixed immediately. I’d simply like to understand whether these concerns are recognized and whether improvements are on the roadmap.
