i can navigate with vim movement to the next file, but it doesn't scroll that file to the top so i still have to use my mouse to move the cursor over the "viewed" checkbox 😞
d
can you still tab to the viewed checkbox?
t
yeah but it's like 4-5 tabs
d
i think the blocker is we don't have a great pattern for indicating "hey you're focused on this file so pressing the
<viewed shortcut>
key will toggle it"
t
there's a blue outline on the focused file when navigating with j/k
d
yeah, if you happen to be on that exact focus ring, but i'm thinking of other cases where maybe you're inside it as well
and how good a job we'd communicate that
not saying it's a hard blocker but i think we haven't spent time thinking through the full interaction!
anyways thanks for the flag, we'll definitely look into this at some point!

fair enough. even if it involved an extra confirmation, that would be fine. eg, if i could: •
j
(next file) •
V
(or something) to open a dialog that said "mark
file.ts
as viewed?" •
<return>
(confirm mark as viewed) • and ideally move to next file (equiv of
j
) that would be totally cool.
i appreciate the response nonetheless 🙂
d
that makes sense. i think actually no confirmation might be fine, since the viewed toggle is instant–you could tap again to undo

totally agree — just trying to mitigate the lack of focus clarity you'd mentioned
but, probably the wrong mitigation approach (vs improving focus indicator)
