Hello 👋 Is there a way to Squash a whole stack before merging into Main? Waiting for an 8 PR Stack to fully merge takes most of the day and will block other people merging due to the deployment process being quite long
a
You can
gt fold
from the top of the stack to the first one, and then
submit
, and then
merge
. But arguably this would be nice to support first class.
t
Yeah, that's a bit cumbersome. But already helpful!
That seems to leave the stack in a really weird state. All the folded PRs still exist and are waiting to be merged...
a
Did you run a stack submit: gt submit —stack
Also, assuming that doesn't fix it, could you just merge the bottom part of the stack with all the code changes, and close the folded PRs?
t
I did, yes. I always run
gt ss
Yeah, I did that. But the double manual work is a bit silly 😛
a
Agree, we should make this easier to do. I'm surprised the PRs stayed open.
t
Yeah, me too. Github did move the base to master nicely, but the diff stayed pre-merge, which was weird
d
I’ve been using
gt fold && gt submit -s
but would be nice if graphite could collapse down from a layer of a stack to the bottom if all intermediate layers have been approved
