gt split
the PR you want, and name the branch of the first part of split as something else, and preserve the branch name for the second part of the split
Or make the changes you want on main, and gt move the old PR onto the new changes

Hmm, I have over 1000 files changed, so I assume
gt split
would take hours to select each relevant file
I only want 3 of the files in the prequel PR
So it sounds like my best option is to redo the changes then
gt move
on top of them?

Copy code
$ gt checkout branch
// Assuming you have a single commit on the branch
$ git reset --soft HEAD~1
$ git restore --staged (all changes except the 3 files)
$ git commit -m "first three files"
$ git add -A && git commit -m "remaining files"
$ gt split (by commit)
$ gt submit

This feels safer though?
