With the old cli commands
gt us onto ...
, not sure what the replacement is. I think
gt move ...
or so
j
if you have A -> B -> C -> D -> E and
gt delete C
, we'll restack D on B without C's commits
then you can close the PR from the UI
b
oh wow, that's elegant!
v
Ah, nice
j
there are kinda three different ways to remove C from the stack:
gt delete C
(which removes C's commits entirely)
gt checkout C && gt fold
(which puts C's commits into B)
gt checkout D && gt fold --keep
(which puts C's commits into D) I really do need to record some videos @Ben Jaffe 🙂

No us onto replacement?
b
Maybe you can have someone on your team pretend to not know things and ask you questions, and like a magical wizard, you solve their problems with elegant commands.
j
gt checkout D && gt move --onto B
will keep C in place and do the same restack as the first one

(btw ben, I made it so
gt move --onto
behaves the same as
gt move
in the most recent version, don't know if you saw that)
b
omg i didn't, thank youuuuuu
