I still would like to know if this is possible, but I'm going to `gt dsg` to pull down the previous status and start over from there

there's no "automatic" way to do it, you'd probably need a combination of `downstack edit`, `reflog`, and potentially `downstack track` if things were really hairy

I'm not sure if I fully understand the exact state you ended up in though

okay cool deal, was hoping for an out-of-the-box

I did `gt ds edit` moved a branch from the top to the bottom of a branch, ran into merge conflicts, and something happened where i lost the code

But before I did all that I had submitted the stack. so I was able to dsg it all back to normal
