I have a small Grails app which I converted from 2.2.5 to 4.0.3 and now have running as a fully executable .war. As a test, I set 'JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx200m' for it, way lower than I would have considered using for any Grails app in the past, and it works fine. Looks like really worthwhile memory savings with version 4.
