You made me think of something similar but on a completely different context. Do we have a way to make IntelliJ autocomplete named parameters in method calls? The dueuno API has many such methods, like the β€œrender” method in Grails. Named parameters are very convenient to extend the API with the downside of not being β€œdiscoverable” by the IDE. But they may be β€œdescribed” to the IDE instead? I don't know I am randomly speaking but that would be useful to Grails as well (render, hibernate methods like save, delete, etc) Do you know if this is something that could exist in some reality?

<!channel> All the Grails Guides have been migrated over to the official Apache Grails site β†’ https://grails.apache.org/guides/ Even better news: the process for adding new guides has been completely overhauled and is now ridiculously simple and fast. Guides have always been one of the most helpful resources for learning Grails - whether you’re brand new or picking up advanced techniques. We really want to bring this section back to life and get fresh, useful guides flowing again on all kinds of topics. πŸ“ Full details on the new easy process (check the README): https://github.com/apache/grails-static-website#authoring-a-guide And here’s the first new guide created with the new workflow: Grails Fields Plugin: Custom Widgets, Wrappers, and Tables A really thorough, practical guide on using the Fields plugin to build clean CRUD pages with almost zero boilerplate. πŸ”— https://grails.apache.org/guides/grails-fields-custom-widgets-and-wrappers/8/guide/index.html Who’s got a guide idea burning a hole in their brain? We’d love to see what topics the community wants to tackle next! πŸš€

JobRunr just published a detailed integration guide for Apache Grails + a full working sample app: πŸ”— https://www.jobrunr.io/en/guides/jvm-frameworks/grails/ πŸ”— https://github.com/iNicholasBE/grails-jobrunr Why this matters: Most teams still default to Quartz because β€œthat’s what we’ve always used.” Quartz went pretty quiet around 2021 and only really came back to life in the last couple of years, so a lot of people just stuck with the familiar option. While Quartz remains solid and familiar, JobRunr offers a compelling modern alternative for teams that want something simpler and more developer-friendly: - Much simpler API (especially with the JobRequest pattern for Groovy) - Built-in dashboard out of the box - Easier distributed setup + retries - Designed with distributed/cloud-native use cases in mind - Uses your existing database (GORM-friendly with a bit of wiring) The guide walks through the Grails/GORM gotchas (DataSource wiring, lambdas, etc.) and the sample app demonstrates fire-and-forget, scheduled, recurring jobs, progress tracking, and the dashboard. Worth a look for any new scheduled-job work.

<!channel> We are in the final weeks of Grails 8 development and have also been very actively releasing patch versions. Grails 8 is an absolutely massive release. Apache Grails is a full top level Apache Software Foundation project, as of Oct 7th 2025, just like Apache Tomcat and Apache Groovy, It is run the Apache way, in a transparent, vendor neutral and community driven process. As the VP and PMC Chair, I would like to invite you to start joining the weekly calls, see docs.google.com/document/d/1L590r6Z_xNQ…/edit?usp=drive_web&ouid=11439572937001547545…. Everyone is welcome to join the call and it is the main process which helps steer the project. Additionally, we welcome PRs from forked repos and would love to see many, many more. If you have deployed a Grails app to production, you are 100% qualified to help push the framework forward. And as you become a regular contributor, we would love for you to join as an official Apache committer (recruiting is one of my jobsπŸ˜‰). James Fredley VP, PMC Chair, Apache Grails
