Just to add to what everyone else has already said, which are all good answers. One difference between MN and Grails, that hasn't been mentioned is that MN has more of a Spring Boot feel to me because it uses a lot of annotations, while Grails uses fewer annotations and has more convention over configuration however it's conventions can be overridden if needed.
