@Kevin C I actually attempted that several months ago using IntelliJ and WebStorm to do development inside WSL to see how it would work. For the most part it was not too bad to get everything to work, there were a few caveats....however as @erichelgeson mentioned, there are some performance issues with Java in WSL to the point of just using a VM. Some of it honestly though could have also been with what felt like a disruptive workflow within Windows as compared to Mac or Linux when moving around between a terminal, git, browser, editor, etc...but that was just my experience
