How are you declaring your transient property?
If you are making it transient at an object level it won't be seen by the converter.

i.e.
```
transient String willNotBeRendered
```

However you can make it transient to gorm by adding it to a static `transients` property
```
static transients = ['transientPropertyName']
...
String transientPropertyName
```

That should mean the property still shows up in your JSON but is ignored by GORM.

You can try like this. It worked for me.
```class Person {
    String firstName, lastName, fullName
    static transients = ['fullName']

    static constraints = {
        fullName bindable: true
    }
}```
