what i really want, though, is to create the requested User (if necessary) when Switch User is attempted. i thought an interceptor would be the right approach, but perhaps something else would work instead.

That may need to happen in a security filter. Those happen before the interceptors are called (I think). See AnonymousAuthenticationFilter.java for an example that creates an authentication object and adds it to the security context for that thread.

ok, i'll check that filter out. i haven't made a security filter before, so this will be new 🙂 sure wish the interceptor would work since it would be really easy to do what i need. thanks for the suggestion.
