The structure of my project is like this: my-convention-plugins (multi-module) • gradle / libs.version.toml • buildSrc ◦ settings.gradle.kts
Copy code
dependencyResolutionManagement {
    versionCatalogs {
        create("libs") {
            from(files("../gradle/libs.versions.toml"))
        }
    }
}
• aaa-convention (module) • bbb-convention (module) ◦ bbb-base-convention.gradle.kts
Copy code
plugins {
    java-library
}

val libs: VersionCatalog = the<VersionCatalogsExtension>().named("libs")
dependencies {
	...
}
◦ bbb-application-convention.gradle.kts
Copy code
plugins {
    id("bbb-base-convention")
}
val libs: VersionCatalog = the<VersionCatalogsExtension>().named("libs")
dependencies {
val xxxVersion = libs.findVersion("xxx").get()
...
}

Hi, thank you for your always good comments and feedback.
Gradle’s community support is cool.
Assuming you mean me, you're welcome. But it also sounds like you think I'm a Gradle supporter. I'm not affiliated to Gradle in any way. I'm just a user like you, helping other users. Also, I cannot really understand what you mean with Q1 neither Q2. Or do you think that when applying the plugins it should find the entried from the version catalog that you only have in the convention plugin project. If that's the case, then this is your misunderstanding. You would need to have this version catalog in the project where you want to apply the plugins, not in the convention plugin build.
thank you 1

Oh really? I really thought you were a developer working on Gradle. You are right. I misunderstood that I was using the version catalog included in the convention plugin. I misunderstood it so badly as I was creating a convention plugin for the spring boot gradle plugin that applies bom to the gradle plugin. It was only after I left my question here that I realized I was wrong.

No, never. I regularly send contributions and are mentioned as external contributor in most release notes. But I'm not affiliated to Gradle in any way. I'm not even a Gradle Fellow.

All right. Whether you are gradle related or not, you have helped me a lot and I am grateful.
