Ah. Its because I was also missing

'org.junit.platform:junit-platform-launcher'

, but the dependency in the doc doesn't have a version. So just copy pasting doesn't work. That should probably be updated.

You should not need the explicit dependency on the engine, as Jupiter should already depend on it. And you should not need a version for the launcher as the engine should always bring in the BOM which defines the version you need iirc.
