An idea: There might be an issue, that you reference a variable defined at the top level of script. They get a reference to Gradle script object unfortunately. Normally you can fix it with something like:

    val testFailureCheck = testFailureCheck
    doLast {
        testFailureCheck...
    }
}

Unfortunately, that doesn't work out of the box, due to other code elsewhere. But I will talk to owner of that code.
