Has anyone ever used Monarch or copilot? Thoughts?...

Has anyone ever used Monarch or copilot? Thoughts? Really looking for a better version of mint (by intuit) (all accounts in one place with insights). Without all the ads and just a better product. Not looking for budgeting per se. https://twitter.com/johnbuilds/status/1604932176935636993?s=20&t=GiutaWG100BA9X2e8Yu2zg

Following. I use mint but would love a better option for net worth tracking.
a
I think I'm going to try copilot. It looks awesome and I have iphone/mac. I'll report back
m
I don't like anything that isn't cross platform (since I recommend to so many people). They aren't on Android? Can you try the other in that case 😂😂
a
Might have to try both. 😄
f
@mysterious-tomato-10057 didn't you send me an affiliate link for a cross platform tracker awhile back?
m
for net worth? I send people mint for bugeting? I send people YNAB if you are talking about a LONG time ago, I used to send people personal capital, but I had to stop recommending it bc of poor software management, poor support, and spamy investment calls.

If you're techie, check out https://github.com/mintapi/mintapi I personally refuse to give other sites unrestricted access to my assets and many banks don't offer API access. Credit cards accounts are fine with me - not much they can do besides pay my bills for me. I wrote my own scraping tools for my assets (Ally & Fidelity if anyone wants).
a
Nice! Curious how someone would use mint api. Once you aggregated the data, what else do you want to do there?
n
Currently I use it to put the balances in Google sheets to update my personal balance sheet

I’ve been using Co Pilot for a few days and started playing with Monarch. The biggest annoyance of both is that none of them have a simple bills feature. I want to be able to see my upcoming credit card bills and the day they are due. Mint does have this, though it doesn’t work great. Co Pilot: amazing ui/ux. Native app etc. just extremely pleasant to hang out in. One major con, they don’t have a way to import transactions via csv yet (they are a new product and iterating quickly) Monarch: like copilot but with some additional features. But ui/ux doesn’t compare to co pilot.
m
I use prisim for upcoming bills. It also pays them for you. They also reimburse you late fees if something goes wrong.
r
Curious how important the due date feature is, I pay all my bills on the last day of the month regardless of the due date
a
My wife pays the bills in the family and she wants it 😆 I’ll check out prism. But either way, what I’m finding is that it’ll be difficult to find one app to really be my complete financial hub. I’ll need 2-3

Yes you need multiple apps. I use mint for net worth YNAB for budgeting Prism for bills

a
Makes sense. Thanks. Re Prism, it looks like Chase and Capital one don’t work. Are you able to actually schedule card payments from the app?
m
I scheduled all my payments in the app including my water bill
But certain banks change the technology and prism then needs to redesign to reconnect
Like right now I can't pay my Citi bill
And when it missed it they reimbursed me
They're actively working on making their integrations better, but it's certainly not the best experience right now as things change, but it's more companies adopt plaid or other universal systems. It will definitely be a lot cleaner
a
Have you tried any alternatives? Are there any?
m
I have tried three apps for bill paying. I don't remember which three, whatever the top three words the time a year ago and prism was the best

n
What's the advantage of paying via prism vs. autopay with email notification?
m
@nutritious-raincoat-28876 one place to manage everything
n
Meaning you don't like autopay? Because I have 0 places to manage everything 😉
m
I do auto pay through prism
This way I can see all my upcoming auto payments in one place
I need to know how much to happen checking so that I can cover all the upcoming expenses
n
Ohhh, I get it. That makes sense. How do they make money?
m
No idea whatsoever
I imagine somehow I'm the product

They claim they get a small cut of the payments
I’m having some trouble getting prism connected on chase though. In theory it is the perfect app for what I need. Credit card bill management is my main pain point now. BTW, Mint does this really well on desktop but the feature doesn’t work in app. On desktop you can clearly see upcoming bill and easily see which transactions were the the last statement.
I’m still surprised that none of the other apps (screenshot with some of what I tried 😆 ) don’t have basic credit card reminder and most importantly, basic due date features. Only mint. Such a basic feature IMO.
I should start a personal finance review site after trying all of these 😛
m
Prisim has a great reminder feature.
You think that's bad?

And this doesn't even include any financial real estate apps haha
