I, but not my spouse or children, am on an HSA-eligible HDHP. I want to max out my contributions before the end of the year. I have a few questions: My insurance card shows separate numbers for individual deductible and family deductible. Does that mean that I have a family plan and can contribute $8550 rather than $4300, even though the rest of my family are on other health plans? If my income does not cover the contribution limit, but we are married filing jointly, can we contribute (pre-tax) with my spouse's income?

Depends on if it covers other family members. No earned income requirement Deadline is not end of calendar year as it doesn’t sound like you would be doing this through payroll

Does the fact that my insurance card shows a family deductible mean that it covers them? "No earned income requirement" What I want to know is, can I still get the full benefit of using pre-tax money for the full amount if I am contributing with my spouse's income (because my annual income is lower than the max contribution)? "Deadline is not end of calendar year as it doesn’t sound like you would be doing this through payroll" Can you please explain this sentence?

1. Don't know but I suppose you could call your insurance company to see if it did 2. If you are filing jointly it won't matter. You aren't offsetting your income directly when you fund outside of payroll - rather there is a deduction taken against all of your collective income on Schedule 1. 3. April 15 2026 is deadline to fund 2025 tax year
