10/20/2025, 2:51 PMHomes as Solid Investments
In addition to locking in your ongoing housing costs, buying real estate has excellent long-term investment potential.I don't think this is true. Your house goes in value, and then what? When you move to an old age home and finally sell you house you get money for it? But adjust it for inflation and add in maintenance costs, and what did you get?

10/20/2025, 6:20 PMadd in maintenance costsInteresting you say that living in Israel. I live in a rental (and actually own elsewhere and rent it), and I pay more fixings than my landlord does each year. His maintenance is probably $100-300 a year. In 9 years his rent has nearly doubled, and so did his apt value. On my own apartment, yearly fixes are pretty low too ba''h. As a newly married it was probably the best thing we did buying a house (we blew a lot of money looking back), in the beginning it was hard, but a few long years later rent was significantly higher than the mortgage payments and maintenance together. And now 20 years later I have a pretty much paid house worth 3x, and can sell and either upgrade, or buy cheaper and invest some, and I hope I have some good years before the old age home.
