YNAB question - I got a refund on a credit card and now I have a negative amount "available for payment". So, say I got a $20 refund, the current balance on the card is +$20 but what is "Available for Payment" is -$20 and it's asking me to assign more money to the card.
t
When you input the money you have to put it back into the category of the purchase. Did you do that?
b
I categorized it correctly. I realized that for some reason in addition to increasing the amount assigned to that particular budget item, it also increased my "ready to assign". To clarify, upon refund - Budget item +20 Ready to assign +20 CC -20 I don't know why it didn't just leave the RTA and CC at 0 but I just assigned the +20 to the CC and it seems to be fine now.
t
Did you pay the CC bill in full before the refund?
b
Yes. I have a credit now on the card

Thanks for the reference, this is the behavior I experience. Still unclear why they wouldn't just leave the money assigned to the card as opposed to increasing RTA and putting the card in the red, but it makes sense now. Thank you again.

@broad-australia-98095 you figure everything out here?
b
O completely forgot about this. I think I have it figured out now. It just seems I need to manually assign money to the credit card in this instance. There may be another old question I had for @thousands-sunset-8939 that I need to get in touch with him about, I lost track of all my questions.

Please reach out whenever. I’d be happy to help. Make a note and call it ‘CA questions about YNAB’ lol
