Good day 👋 How are you? I had a quick question - I've disabled elementary in production (momentarily) while testing out a new infrastructure, but I'm getting this error whenever running a model with an elementary test:
31mUnhandled error while executing \x1b[0m', 'Pass a string for project'
Here is the code I used to disable the elementary extension:
elementary:
    +schema: "elementary"
    +enabled: false
In my
dbt_project.yml
My understanding was that disabling elementary would totally remove the invocation. Is this not the case? How can I get rid of these errors which are making my tasks fail?
e
Hi @Stéphane Burwash, where in the dbt_project.yml did you add this configuration? was it under "models" or "tests"? and what dbt task is failing, dbt run or dbt test?
s
Hey Ella 👋 How are you? Thanks for answering! Currently under the models I have:
models:
  ...
  elementary:
    +schema: "elementary"
    +enabled: "{{ target.name in ['prod'] }}"
And I changed this to:
models:
  ...
  elementary:
    +schema: "elementary"
    +enabled: false
This had no effect locally, but in production, any elementary test (ex: row_number) was failing with the message above. Would you have any idea what could have caused this? Thanks thankyou

Hi @Stéphane Burwash, We found an issue starting 0.14.0 that caused this disable method not to work. not sure if the upgrade is what had caused the issue on your end but if you like you can install the fix here:
packages:
  - git: <https://github.com/elementary-data/dbt-data-reliability.git>
    revision: 7df3a177cce35c69438923a898ef02c6c957d551
after you install the package from here (or wait for our next version) you'll be able to disable like you mentioned above and it will make elementary tests just run do nothing and pass. If you prefer the tests not to run at all you'll be able to exclude them by excluding
tag:elementary-tests

Awesome @Ella Katz, thank you so much for the update!
